Italian Fried Cheese

 This is my favorite appetizer when i go to a restaurant. This recipe is easy and delicious. Recipe for the sauce is also included

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 pound(s) , Mozzarella Cheese in 2" x1/2" rectangles
  • 2 large , Eggs Beaten
  • 1/4 cup(s) , Flour
  • 2/3 cup(s) , Seasoned Bread Crumbs
  • 0 as needed , Olive Oil
  • 1 large , Garlic Clove Crushed
  • 28 ounces , Crushed Italian Tomatoes
  • 0 to taste , Salt and Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon(s) , Oregano Crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) , Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) , Crushed Dried Basil

Instructions:
In three separate bowls, put eggs, flour and seasoned dry bread crumbs. Dip cheese in flour, then egg, then crumbs. Place on wax paper. Refrigerate 1 hour. Fry cheese in olive oil, turning once. Drain and serve with sauce. SAUCE: In 2 quart saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil, brown garlic and remove; add crushed tomatoes and seasonings. Simmer 45 minutes, uncovered.
