INGREDIENTS:
- 2 pound(s) , Round Steak
- 1 tablespoon(s) , Water
- 1/3 cup(s) , Dry Bread Crumbs
- 3 tablespoon(s) , Green Bell Pepper Chopped
- 1 large , Onion Chopped
- 24 ounces , Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) , Sugar
- 1 large , Egg
- 1/3 cup(s) , Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 cup(s) , Olive Oil
- 2 large , Garlic Cloves Minced
- 1/4 cup(s) , Fresh Mushrooms Sliced
- 1 whole , Bay Leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) , Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) , Marjoram
- 6 ounces , Mozzarella Cheese Shredded

Cut steak into serving pieces. Beat together egg and water. Stir together Parmesan cheese and crumbs. Dip steak into egg mixture, then crumb mixture. Shake off excess. Brown in 1/4 cup olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Remove and arrange in single layer in baking pan. Heat remaining 1/4 cup olive oil in skillet and saute onions, mushrooms, and green pepper until limp. Add tomato sauce and seasonings. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour 3/4 of sauce over steak. Cover with Mozzarella cheese. Pour remaining sauce over cheese. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours. Uncover and bake for 15 minutes more. |
