Pepperoni Pizza Burgers
Submitted by: Jimmy
This dish combines the great flavors of pizza and cheeseburgers, 2 of my favorites

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 large , Egg Beaten
  • 1/4 cup(s) , Fine Dry Bread Crumbs
  • 8 ounces , Pizza Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) , Dried Basil or Oregano Crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) , Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) , Pepper
  • 1 pound(s) , Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 ounces , Pepperoni Finely Chopped
  • 6 large , Hamburger Buns Split and Toasted
  • 1/3 cup(s) , Mozzarella Cheese Shredded

Instructions:
In a medium mixing bowl, combine egg, bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons of the pizza sauce, basil or oregano, salt, and pepper. Add ground beef and pepperoni; mix well. Shape meat mixture into 6 (3/4 inch thick) patties.
Grill burgers directly over medium coals for 14 to 18 minutes, or until center reaches 160°, turning once halfway through grilling.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat the remaining pizza sauce. Place burgers on the bottom halves of the buns. Spoon some of the remaining pizza sauce over the burgers. Sprinkle burgers with Mozzarella cheese. Top with remaining bun halves. Pass any remaining pizza sauce. Makes 6 servings.
